Over the next few months the body will need to be returned to what a 1979 928 should be, the spoilers front and back will be removed and the side protection strips will also be taken off, this will return the car to the clean look of the early 928 and will take away the 928S look that was created after it was sold. The external mirrors were not standard on this model either but on checking with Porsche Centre Melbourne they have told me that the car was sold with them fitted as a factory extra so they will stay. They also told me that the car was delivery new in Brisbane on the 14 June 1979 from the Albion Car Centre.
The first task was to get the car to my mechanic, the rego sticker reads 2001 and the general appearance tells me it has not started for a loooooong time, but Nick comes to my rescue and delivers the car on a trailer to my mechanic just out side of Geelong where it will spend the next few months as the motor is put back together and all the hydrolics are reconditioned.
Once the car is drivable it will go through a complete inspection and road test this will determine what needs to be restored or replaced and in what order. It is important to establish what needs to be done early as most parts will be sauced from Roger Tyson at 928Rus in the USA Roger has helped me in the other two Porsche 928 restorations ( a 1983 928S and a 1988 S4 ) and is well respected within the 928 community
